The American Muslim Cemetery is a sacred initiative of the Center for Islamic Teachings and Community Development (CITCD), established to serve the spiritual and communal needs of Muslims in Illinois. Rooted in prophetic guidance and Islamic tradition, the cemetery exists to ensure that every Muslim is laid to rest with dignity, reverence, and care.
Our mission is to provide the Muslim community with access to a respectful and authentic Islamic burial that upholds the Sunnah while remaining cost-conscious and accessible. In moments of loss, families should be met with compassion—not obstacles. The American Muslim Cemetery strives to remove hardship during life’s most vulnerable moments by offering a burial process marked by simplicity, mercy, and ease.
Established as part of CITCD’s broader commitment to community service, the American Muslim Cemetery was developed through sincere intention and collective effort. After progressing through its initial development phases, the cemetery is now fully operational and open for burials. Its design follows a masjid-inspired model—humble, purposeful, and centered on devotion—reflecting the Islamic values of humility and remembrance of the Hereafter.
